One of the most common discussions by Christians on social media is whether the United States of America will have any part in the End Times. Some believe that the US will take the lead, with some even thinking that the Antichrist will be America. Others, however, argue that the US will not exist at the time of the Antichrist. The argument stems from the fact that the United States is not directly mentioned in the Bible. Thus, they believe, the nation must have been destroyed sometime before the Antichrist arrives.

I do not agree with this stance. The logic makes no sense. A vast majority of modern nations are not spoken about in the Bible. Japan, China, India, Indonesia, Finland, Mexico, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Nigeria, North and South Korea. None of them are mentioned in the Bible. Does this mean that they, and the rest of the nearly 200 nations of the world, will be destroyed before the Antichrist arrives?

Of course not. Scripture does not tell us every little detail about the Second Coming of Christ. It gives us the basics and focuses on the Hope of the Resurrection and the restoration of the world. Silence does not necessarily mean absence.

Only the nations immediately surrounding Israel are directly mentioned, and this makes sense because Scripture was written in that part of the world. God revealed what the original audience needed to know, not every single little thing that was going to happen in the End.
